Whispering Pines Pet Resort offers dog daycare on a 12-acre country property in Longmont, Colorado, serving Boulder, Niwot, Erie, Lafayette, and the greater Boulder County area. Instead of just splitting dogs into "big" and "small," staff place each dog by fit (size first, then energy, play style, age, temperament, and social comfort) and adjust throughout the day. Dogs who do better in a smaller group, with a few friends, or in solo yard time get exactly that. It's daycare built around the right fit for each dog, not maximum group time.
Whispering Pines Daycare is open 7 days a week during normal business hours, with limited spots over the weekend.

What is fit-based daycare?
Size is only the first filter. After that, staff match by energy, play style, age, confidence, history with other dogs, and how each dog is doing that day:
Confident, social dogs may go into higher-energy groups.
Anxious, cautious, older, or selective dogs start in a mellow or smaller group.
Some dogs do best with one or two friends, or in solo yard time with staff.
That's the model: fit over volume. The goal isn't the most group time, it's the right fit for that dog. Placement is watched and adjusted all day, and staff step in early (redirecting, reducing group size, or re-placing a dog) the moment a group gets too amped up.
What does a first day look like?
Daycare starts with observation, not assumptions. A typical first day:
Check-in: For first-timers, staff review vaccines, health, restrictions, and your dog's play style.
Settle and observe: The dog decompresses in a run or nearby yard while staff read energy and comfort.
Ease in when needed: Unsure dogs meet others across a fence line or nearby yard first.
Try, then adjust: Staff try a group they believe fits, then change it if it isn't right.
Breaks built in: Rest, water, lunch if needed, and more yard time later in the day.
A calm, well-matched start, not the deep end on day one.
Why the country setting makes daycare better
This is country daycare, not one packed indoor room. Room to move across 12 acres, 18 play yards, and indoor/outdoor space is exactly what lets staff build well-matched groups, separate dogs when needed, and give shy or selective dogs a quieter corner. It's the Canine Country idea in practice: dogs do better with dirt, fresh air, and space.

Shy, anxious, senior, or picky about other dogs?
That's exactly who fit-based placement is built for, and one of the main reasons families with nervous, reactive, and senior dogs come to us. A good day for a sensitive dog isn't measured by how much group play they did; it's whether they felt safe, got the right amount of activity, and were never pushed past their comfort. That can mean a slower intake, quieter handling, solo or one-on-one yard time, smaller groups, and rest with bedding from home. Older, anxious, or timid dogs are never forced into bigger, rowdier setups to fit a routine.
High-energy dogs get the opposite end of the same idea: more yard time, more room to move, and carefully matched play so they head home tired and calm, not wired.

How much does dog daycare cost in Longmont?
Daycare is priced by full day (5+ hours) or half day (under 5 hours), with multi-dog discounts:

Daycare FAQs
Full-day daycare (5+ hours) is $31 for one dog, $60 for two, and $83.70 for three, with 10% off the base rate per dog for four or more. Half-day daycare (under 5 hours) is $25 for one dog, $48 for two, and $67.60 for three, with the same 10% multi-dog discount. Lunch is $2 if you'd like us to provide it. Service fees apply to card transactions.
Before Your Dog's First Day
To keep every guest safe, we ask that all dogs have:
- Proof of current Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccines
- A completed contract and play-release form
- A friendly temperament with dogs and people for group play
